Amanpuri, Phuket – hotel profile

Updated |Editorial policy

The first Aman resort, on a headland above Pansea Beach in north-west Phuket. Location, history and who it suits.

Amanpuri, whose name means “place of peace”, opened in 1988 as the first resort of the Aman group. It occupies a coconut-palm headland above Pansea Beach, a small bay just north of Surin Beach on Phuket’s west coast.

Design and setting

The resort is made up of Thai-style pavilions and private villas spread through the gardens and along the hillside, connected by paths and steps. Its design, inspired by Thai temple architecture and built around a central black-tiled pool, influenced a generation of Asian luxury resorts.

Location

  • On the north-west coast, between Surin and Bang Tao beaches.
  • About 25–30 minutes by road from Phuket International Airport.
  • Close to the restaurants and beach clubs of Surin and Bang Tao, and around 20–30 minutes from Patong.

Who it suits

Travellers looking for privacy, space and a high level of personal service. The surrounding beaches are calmer and less developed than Patong. Like the rest of the west coast, the sea can be rough from May to October. See our Phuket guide and Bang Tao guide for the area.

We do not publish prices or ratings. Check the resort’s official website for current rates and facilities.
